Practice makes perfect.
Yulissa Areschurenaga is the first licensed Zumba instructor with Down syndrome and her hard work and dedication is truly inspiring.
And this is another step forward for Down syndrome inclusiveness.
The 24-year-old from San Francisco loved dancing since she was an infant, her mom told Alaska Dispatch News, and attended her first Zumba class in 2008. The class brought her out of her shell and since then she mastered the routines.
She taught for the National Down Syndrome Congress in Alaska and in March 2012, she was accredited – a first ever! Now, she’s leading classes children in San Francisco.
“When she’s with the music, she’s got it,” her mother said.
