“Hey man! Are you headed my way by any chance?” is what the bear cub that dived into this man’s raft was probably thinking.
Rafters making their way through the Nolichucky River in Tennessee found their attention stolen away by a lone black bear cub on the shore. Its mother was nowhere to be found, and as rafter Danny Allen approached, the cub dove into his raft, according to witnesses at the scene.
The rafters figured this cub had been alone for days without sustenance, and upon rescuing it, Allen reached out to the Appalachian Bear Rescue, an organization whose mission is to save and return bears to their habitats.
The cub, named Noli, was found to be malnourished, and the good people of the Appalachian Bear Rescue provided her with plenty of food to get her back to full health.
Noli is to stay and be cared for at the organization until she is deemed ready to be returned to the wild.
It is lucky that Danny Allen was indeed going Noli’s way. Guess you never know what you’re going to find when you go rafting!
