One veteran’s viral Facebook post is drawing praise from hundreds of thousands on the internet after pointing out the capriciousness with which a school district “folded” their flag.
Nolan Ruby is a truck driver for Coca-Cola from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Ruby is a husband, father, and Marine veteran. While on a recent delivery of beverages to the “football field house,” Ruby “noticed our National Colors tossed on a shelf,” he wrote in his Facebook post. Ruby shared an image of the American flag in a carelessly folded rectangle.
Ruby continued, writing that he “decided to fold and properly place her (the flag) the best I could. If further flag etiquette instruction is required, feel free to contact me.”
Ruby shared a second image of the newly folded flag and signed off the note, writing, “From: the Coke Guy…AKA Combat Marine Veteran who LOVES (sic) the American Flag.”
Ruby’s Facebook post has been shared a whopping 194,000 times (as of press), with many giving Nolan thanks for his service and taking the time to fold the flag.
