Two Grapevine, Texas twins gave their ill father a beautiful gift thanks to the help of some generous donations.
Becca and Sarah Duncan, 23, always dreamed of having their father walk them down the aisle at their respective weddings. However, neither is close to marriage, so when they learned their 80-year-old father Scott was ill with Alzheimer’s disease, they decided to stage a photoshoot in order to give him the experience of seeing them as brides. Becca Duncan told ABC News:
“We just randomly thought of this idea. Me and Sarah know that our dad is more than likely not going to be at our wedding – it’s not being a downer or anything; we’re just being realistic – so we decided to do these wedding pictures with Dad.”
The shoot lasted only 10 minutes in a neighbor’s yard, and saw the women wear donated bridal gowns and bouquets. Photographer Lindsay Rabon was behind the lens, and became so moved that she donated the photos free of charge.
Rabon blogged, “While it’s not a replacement for the real thing, I hope that– for this moment– they enjoyed this time with their father.”
Of the experience, Sarah Duncan explained, “We now get this moment for the rest of our lives and I don’t think some people really understand that’s why we were doing it. We want to capture the moment while we can.”
Her sister added, “It’s something that we’re going to have for the rest of our lives.”
