Touching Moment Shows Autistic Boy Connecting With Service Dog for First Time and Mom’s Reaction Is Priceless
It’s no question children with autism face countless obstacles as they progress throughout life. One of those many obstacles is attempting to make friends and build social connections outside of family. One mother knows this all to well.
The mom recently posted to the Love What Matters Facebook group to explain how her son with autism is finally making a connection with their new service dog, Tornado.
“Yesterday was the first day my 5 year old (sic) Autistic son met his new Autism Service Dog, Tornado,” she began.
“This picture captures the face of a mother who saw her child, who she can’t hug, wash, dress, snuggle and touch freely lay on his new Service dog of his own free will, with a purposeful, unspoken attachment. This is the face of a mom who has seen her son experience countless failed social interactions on the playground in an attempt to have a friend.”
The mom goes to say how every struggle up until this point, and to get this dog, has been worth it.
“Somehow because of this – because of Tornado – I know everything will be okay. As a mother, I have seen countless challenging and painful moments my son has encountered and cried countless more. Yesterday however, I cried for a different reason. It is a feeling that is indescribable.”
Here’s to hoping this boy finally finds the friendship and comfort he deserves in his new fuzzy pal.
