Tom Holland Cast As Spider-Man

The Impossible star will play Peter Parker and his comic book superhero alter ego in the new movie, which will be directed by Jon Watts.

Producer Amy Pascal says, “(We) all knew that for Peter Parker, we had to find a vibrant, talented young actor capable of embodying one of the most well-known characters in the world. With Tom, we’ve found the perfect actor to bring Spider-Man’s story into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Holland will reportedly make his debut as Spider-Man in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and star in a new stand alone film scheduled to hit cinemas in July, 2017.

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield previously played the web slinger.
