Thanks to a simple act of kindness, a piece of jewelry has a completely different meaning.
Tiffany Miller and her family were traveling back home from a basketball tournament when they stopped at a local McDonald’s, only to come to a halt. Miller and her daughter, Ainsley, used the bathroom before they jumped back in the car, however, Miller’s daughter refused to go.
“Ainsley looked in there and said, ‘No mommy, I don’t need to go,’” Miller said to Wichita television station KSN.
Ainsley didn’t seem to understand the automatic flushing system and she would not go to the bathroom because of it.
“You heard her tell me she was scared the toilet would flush while she was sitting on it. I couldn’t convince her I would block the sensor and keep that from happening. She promised she could hold it and wouldn’t pee in the car,” Miller wrote in a now viral post on Facebook.
Luckily, a kind stranger stepped in with a little bribe for Ainsley — as long as she cooperated.
“You told her you would give her a bracelet if she would go potty for Mommy,” Miller wrote on Facebook. “She perked up and agreed…You told her the bracelet would be waiting outside the stall for her.”
After hearing about the bribe, Ainsley didn’t think twice and she took care of business. However, when Miller went to thank the stranger for her kind gesture, she was nowhere to be found.
“I turned to say thank you, but you were already gone. Outside the stall was a bracelet and a mini Snickers bar,” Miller wrote on Facebook.
When Miller returned home, she shared a picture of her daughter sound asleep and wearing the bracelet on Facebook. Hopefully, the kind stranger will see the Facebook post and get the praise she deserves.
“Thank you for your kindness! I wish I could have thanked you in person, but maybe you will see this. If not, hopefully it inspires someone else to be kind like you were.”
Miller didn’t realize so many people would relate to her story and she is “truly shocked by the public reaction to the post.”
“I knew the woman’s gesture was special to me, but I didn’t realize so many people would be touched by her actions as well,” Tiffany Miller told Your Daily Dish. “I wrote the post to thank the woman if she happened to see it, but I also hoped it would inspire others to be kind and compassionate as well.”
She continued, “You never know what others are going through and one small act of kindness can turn their day around.”
