A German man pulled some valuable karats from his carrot garden recently.
The 82-year-old from the town of Bad Müenstereifel had lost his wedding ring several years ago. Despite he and his wife’s best efforts, they were never able to track down the ring much to his chagrin.
Six months ago, his wife of 50 years passed away. The distraught widower wanted more than ever to find the ring, but still had no luck…until recently.
The man was gardening when he came across a particularly mangled carrot. Yanking it from the ground, he was shocked to discover that the carrot had grown through his gold wedding ring.
He theorized that he must’ve dropped the ring in the garden all those years ago and that rain must have pushed the ring lower and lower into the Earth until it became intertwined with the growing vegetable.
According to German news outlet WDR, the man identified it as a literal example of the phrase, “You reap what you sow.”
