Following two tragic terrorist attacks in Paris, France, and then in San Bernardino, California, the rhetoric against Muslims has reached a dangerous level, both home and abroad. Many claim the religion, and specifically its chosen text, the Qur’an, is laced with violent passages, radical ideas, misogyny, and worse. The Bible, on the other hand, preaches peace and love, these same people say.
But how well do Christians really know the Bible?
That’s the central question in an experiment performed by pranksters Dit Is Normaal, two men from the Netherlands where Christians make up over 40% of the population.
The two men took an ordinary Bible and slipped a Qur’an cover over it. They went to the streets asking passersby to weigh in on some of the “Qur’an” passages they read, where the participants would often denounce the book, shocked that a religion could express such views.
But when it was revealed the disturbing passages were from the Bible, many were left in disbelief and reexamining their own beliefs on the Muslim religion.
Watch the thought-provoking experiment here.
