The Duggar’s: 19 Kids And A Whole Lot Of Problems
On May 20th fans of TLC’s hit reality show 19 Kids and Counting were hit with some oh so troubling news about their beloved Duggar family. This family, best known for their wholesome image, was hiding a very dark, very serious secret that would contradict everything they preach when it came to light. According to police reports the oldest Duggar son Josh was accused of molesting five underage girls – this included his own sisters.
Fans everywhere were in disbelief, hoping this would just turn out to be another case of the media looking for something ridiculous to write about, buy boy were they in for some major disappointment. It was Josh Duggar (now 27 and married with three children and another on the way), himself, who confirmed the news by issuing an apology in a statement to People, “Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably, for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with authorities where I confessed my wrongdoings.”
Boy did his statement open up a whole new can of worms, possibly even leaving us with more questions and concerns and the focus would shift from Josh’s indiscretions to his parents, Jim Bob and Michelle – Oh and everything this family stands for of course. TLC pulled all airings of the show and its fate is uncertain.
Ok, so Jim Bob and Michelle knew about this – we’re talking about the parents that preach no physical contact other than holding hands before marriage. These are also parents who are known to go out of their way to comment on other public figures who aren’t living up to their traditional family value standards!
They were dealing with this beyond serious situation with their oldest son and yet they still decided to go ahead and have the whole gigantic family star in their own reality TV show. Did they not get the memo that when you put yourself in the public eye all your darkest secrets eventually come to light? We are now left questioning not just their parenting skills, but everything that this family represents.
Recent reports have surfaced, revealing that the parents didn’t exactly handle their sons criminal behavior with much urgency. In fact, they failed to inform authorities for at least 16 months after Josh first confessed to them. Perhaps if they took swifter action they could have protected their other daughters who would later become victims. What were they thinking? Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar will be appearing on Fox News with Megyn Kelly to address the news for the first time.
What do you think about the Duggar scandal? Should the family be welcomed back on TLC? Leave us your thoughts!
