The Body Count Rises In New Trailer For Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Hateful Eight’
Director Quentin’s Tarantino’s highly anticipated eighth film arrives in theaters Christmas Day and the second trailer provides a new look at the bloody Western.
The Hateful Eight, from the Weinstein Company, features a star-studded cast who cross paths in post-Civil War America. John “The Hangman” Ruth (Kurt Russell) is transporting a fugitive (Jennifer Jason Leigh) – with a $10,000 reward on her head – to be hanged when they come upon a bounty hunter (Samuel L. Jackson) seeking transportation before a snowstorm.
The trailer opens with Jackson’s voiceover saying, “Now what would make a man brave a blizzard and kill in cold blood? I’m sure I don’t know.”
As the snowstorm descends, the trio takes shelter in a cabin filled with, as Rolling Stone put it, “various ne’er-do-wells,” played by Tim Roth, James Madsen, Bruce Dern, Channing Tatum, and others.
Eight strangers trapped in a cabin in the middle of a massive snowstorm with $10,000 at stake? You can begin to draw your own conclusions.
The Hateful Eight opens in limited, 70mm release on December 25, with a wide national release on Jan. 8.
The film’s release hasn’t come without controversy though, as police unions have threatened a boycott of the movie following controversial statements Tarantino made regarding police brutality.
