No matter how long the wait got at a Dallas-area Texas Roadhouse, there was one table left unoccupied.

After five Dallas police officers were killed by a sniper in the line of duty last year, the Texas Roadhouse restaurant set aside the table to honor them. Flanked on each side by large American and Texas flags, the table has five full table settings, complete with plates, napkins, silverware, and chairs.
A plaque sitting on the table reads “In Honor of the five fallen Dallas Police officers lost in the tragic event.”
Brennon King, at the time an employee at the restaurant, tweeted, “Respect. Texas Roadhouse did it up right. Come see us tonight. 10% of all sales go towards Assist the officer.”
In addition to the tribute, the Texas Roadhouse also donated 10 percent of their sales one night to the Dallas-based Assist the Officer Foundation.
According to their website:
The Assist the Officer Foundation provides financial assistance to officers who are facing the loss of income due to a serious injury, life-threatening illness or other catastrophic event. Immediate assistance is also available to an officer’s family in the event of the death of an active officer.
Since its creation in 1999, the foundation has provided assistance to hundreds of officers and their families who were faced with any number of different life-altering situations.
