We all know the SATs suck, but they especially suck if you have to take them at 10 or 11 years old.
Actually, these SATs aren’t related to the ones taken in the U.S. In England, kids take Standard Assessment Tests at the end of years two, six, and nine (six being when they are about 11 years old). It can be a very stressful time for both teachers, parents, and students, with protests and strikes against the standardized tests being carried out, but one teacher is determined to not let it get them down.
The teacher, who goes by Mrs. Thom, gave a homework assignment that required her students to have fun instead of studying or worrying about tests.
She works at Buckleberry Primary School, according to Mashable, and suggested the kids do activities like riding a bike, reading a book, or eating ice cream.
“Remember,” she writes, “Mrs. Thom is charge of worrying – you don’t need to.”
The photo of the assignment has over 60,000 shares and 70,000 likes. Facebook users were quick to comment on how wonderful a teacher she is.
“I’m very fortunate – my daughter is a year 6 in Mrs Thom’s class. We have spent a happy day ticking lots of those boxes,” one user wrote.
“That’s brilliant – we have had s similar letter which has given us all a very positive spin on sats. (sic) We are very lucky to have such hard working and supportive staff in our schools. Good luck to all year 6s,” another wrote.
If only all teachers could be like Mrs. Thom!
