When the Steele High School football team in Cibolo, Texas, were heading into the playoffs, school officials wanted to show their support for them by holding a pep rally at the school, but it wasn’t just students and teachers there to encourage the young players.
Unbeknownst to them, 11 of the team member’s moms were at the school that day and wowed the crowd with a hip-hop dance performance that left the audience cheering on their feet.
Watch the incredible video below.
The routine started when 11 women walked out on to the court all wearing white masks. The music starts and the women begin to move. Then, 30 seconds in, they tear off their masks as the students and faculty in the stands go crazy.
The moms performed some popular dance moves, like the “Nae Nae” and the “Quan” that left the crowd in hysterics. But they were the first to admit these dance moves were not of their usual repertoire.
“My legs were shaky and it felt like my knees were going to buckle. It was cool to come out of our comfort zone,” mom Melissa Fields told My San Antonio.
At the end of the day, it was all to help show their support for the young athletes who would be taking the field.
“The boys are doing really well this year and we wanted to do something to show our support for them,” said April Williams, the mom who organized the dance squad.
Let’s hope that love, support, and energy carried out on to the football field.
