One Happy Family: Couple Adopts Stray Dog That Crashed Their Wedding
Some believe that rain on your wedding day is considered good luck. Many couples who plan their “I dos” for the outdoors would tend to disagree, hoping not to have their big day drowned out.
One couple from Sao Paulo, Brazil wished for sunshine on their special day but the weather refused to cooperate. With a storm rolling through, Marilia and Matheus Pieroni opted to exchange their vows on October 6 under a tent when an unexpected furry guest decided to seek shelter from the rain and crash their wedding.
“As the ceremony started, to everyone’s surprise, it was the dog who came in when the bridal chorus began to play,” Marília Pieroni told The Dodo.
Guests managed to coax the uninvited pup outside, but as if on cue, he returned as the couple began to say their vows and took a front-row seat on the bride’s veil.
This time, the bride – a dog lover — welcomed the dog to the party and the festivities were underway.
As their wedding came to a close, the newlyweds looked for their new guest of honor, who was nowhere to be found.
That night, they decided to search for their new best friend and make him a member of their family. He was nowhere to be found, but the couple didn’t give up and searched the streets until he was found days later.
There’s no doubt that bringing in a stray can change lives. The Stray — written and directed by Mitch Davis — ironically opened on the day of the Pieroni wedding. It’s the true story of how a stray dog, Pluto, came at a time in their lives when they needed him most.
“There is nothing like bringing in a stray dog to put your life in perspective. Our life in Los Angeles after moving from Colorado couldn’t have been more different. He was doing small things to heal our family,” Davis told Your Daily Dish.
“We adopted the dog because we love animals. When we knew that he lived in the streets, we could not think of anything other than to give a home full of love and affection for him,” Marilia told New York radio station 1010 WINS.
The Pieronis and their dog, Snoop, are now living happily ever after.
“He played a lot, ate, drank water. He is very happy and slept super good the first night. We’re all very happy,” Marilia Pieroni told The Dodo.
