Seth Meyers Goes Full Boston in ‘Boston Accent’ Trailer
With the Academy Awards right around the corner, Seth Meyers thought he would endorse his favorite film of the season, Boston Accent.
From the same studio that brought you the critically acclaimed British Movie, Boston Accent parodies pretty much any film that was ever set in Boston.
The trailer really has it all: “The politician with the upscale, Kennedy-type Boston accent; the townie who says the word ‘bro’ in every sentence; the hard-nosed detective played by a British actor who’s trying his best but doesn’t quite have it; and one actor who decided at the last minute not to do a Boston accent at all.”
The “film” has received critical praise and outstanding reviews. Vanity Fair called Boston Accent, “a tour de force of dropped R’s and a brilliant showcase of the words ‘wicked’ and ‘pisser.’” The Hollywood Reporter called the film, “emotional,” and The New Yorker claimed the film was “gritty.” Variety gave high recognition and praise calling it “the movie with the most Boston accents this year.”
The parody also take a jab at the common misconceptions that are always found in a Boston film such as being “loaded with geographical references to cities and towns in Massachusetts.”
Any true Boston native will appreciate Seth Meyer’s riff on the city. Check out the very hilarious and very fake trailer below.
