Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone have reunited on the big screen for the third time in the brand new trailer for La La Land.
In the clip, Gosling plays a steadfast jazz musician named Sebastian who, along with his girlfriend Mia (Stone), is struggling to get by and make it in Hollywood.
The almost dialogue-free trailer is backed by the original song “City of Stars,” which is performed by Gosling himself.
“City of stars, are you shining just for me? City of stars, there’s so much I can’t see,” he sings. “Is this the start of something wonderful, or one more dream that I cannot make true?”
The official synopsis of the film reads:
“Written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Damien Chazelle, “LA LA LAND” tells the story of Mia [Emma Stone], an aspiring actress, and Sebastian [Ryan Gosling], a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.”
J.K. Simmons, Finn Wittrock, Callie Hernandez, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Meagen Fay join Stone and Gosling in the film directed by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash).
“City of Stars” is now available for purchase on iTunes. Check out the trailer below and see the film in theaters on December 2.
