Retired NFL Star Provides Thanksgiving Meals to 1,500 Houston Families
Retired wide receiver Andre Johnson may go down as the greatest player in Houston Texans’ franchise history, but it’s what he’s doing off the field that has warmed the hearts of many. Johnson, who signed with the rival Tennessee Titans before announcing his retirement earlier this year, is no stranger to being charitable, and this Thanksgiving is no different.
Johnson organized an event with former Texan players to donate 1,500 Thanksgiving meals to families in need at Fifth Ward Church of Christ yesterday in Houston. The food items will be distributed today, and Johnson was involved with every step of the process.

Johnson credited his platform as a 14-year veteran of the sport that has allowed him to give back to the community.
“This is our way of helping feed those in need and spreading our spirit of gratitude and kindness, because it’s a privilege for us to be able to give,” Johnson said.
“I’ve been blessed, so why not bless somebody else?”
