Combs was taken into police custody on Monday, June 22nd, after reportedly clashing with Justin Combs’ strength and conditioning coach, Sal Alosi, during a practice session at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) campus. He stands accused of swinging a kettlebell weight at the Bruins coach.
Campus police claim the 45 year old was slapped with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one charge of making terrorist threats and one of battery, but a spokesperson for the hip-hop veteran’s Combs Enterprises firm has now issued a statement about the incident, insisting lawyers are sure the charges will be dismissed in due course.
Spokeswoman Nathalie Moar tells The Associated Press, “The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate.
“What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son. We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed.”
Combs was released on $50,000 bail on Monday night and is due to appear in court in Los Angeles to face the claims against him on July 13th.
