Princess Diaries 3 – Is It Really Coming Or Not?
All those fans of the movie and book franchise “The Princess Diaries,” can now rest easy knowing that the third installment of the series is now in production. Though talks of the new movie were somewhat thwarted earlier this years Entertainment Weekly claims that the likelihood of a new installment is slim to none. They also claim that the rumors have been greatly exaggerated.
Is this reason enough to stop hoping? Of course not. According to The Tracking Board Disney is working on a new installment of “The Princess Diaries,” which has made the day of thousands of girls and guys that read the series and wished that the characters could continue to grace the big screen. The first movie did come out 14 years ago and Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews did a phenomenal time playing Princess Mia and her long lost Grandmother. This was Hathaway’s first starring role that was actually a big success.
In 2004 Disney made the second part of the series, “The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement,” full with Chris Pine as the dashing prince. The movie took us to Genovia and introduced us to the landscape and to some new friends. There have been no solid leads or information about the movie released yet so it is still up in the air if Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as Mia.
This announcement and speculation comes on the heels of the newest member of “The Princess Diaries” family, “The Princess Diaries XI: Royal Wedding.” There are many that speculate that the material for the third movie will borrow from this novel but there are others that wonder if the movie will get a plot line that is all its own.
There is plenty reason to get excited about the possibility of a new installment in this series and many are already speculating about which actor or actress will take up residence alongside Hathaway if she does decide to come back. So far there are no official reports that are claiming one way or another that the movie is going to be made but there are certainly enough fans to garner some attention.
If the movie does move forward it will likely not be in production until next year or even later. There is no question that Anne has certainly not aged a day since the last time she played Miss Thermopolis and it would certainly be any fan’s dream if she were to take up the mantle and continue the series.
There are sure to be more reports and more information trickling down the line as the movie either solidifies and starts production or is scrapped all together. Those that loved the series when it first came out and those that read the series and loved each twist and turn are certainly hoping that this is a true report and that the movie gets underway soon so we can all rush out and see just what it has to offer.
