President Obama, Jerry Seinfeld Take a Joyride on New ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’
On Thursday, the new season of comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s hit series premiered with its most exclusive guest appearance yet, President Barack Obama, and the two dove into the real issues, namely underwear, nachos, and of course, coffee.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is a comedy series from the famed Seinfeld co-creator that sees Mr. Seinfeld host a different comedian every week from the comfort of one of his numerous automobiles.
On the premiere episode of Season 7, Seinfeld welcomed none other than the President of the United States, Mr. Obama, for an in-depth chat about some crucial matters.
“How many world leaders, do you think, are just completely out of their mind?” Seinfeld asked.
“Oh, a pretty sizeable percentage,” Obama answered to laughter.
“Some of these people,” opined Seinfeld, “you must meet them, you must be chatting and you look in the eyes and you go, ‘Oh, this guy’s gone.’”
Seinfeld also needed to know: boxers or briefs?
“If I slid open your underwear drawer: one brand or a number of brands?”
“You’ve got to go with one brand.”
“One brand. One color?” asked Seinfeld.
“Yeah, of course. This is a critical concept,” joked the President.
“It’s more work that you don’t need,” Seinfeld concluded.
The conversation even veered toward how the President deals with stress as the most powerful man on the planet.
“I curse,” the President responded.
“You blow off a little steam, right?”
“Bad stuff, or stupid stuff is happening constantly, right? Every day. So you have to be able to make fun of… That was even dumber or more annoying than usual. That’s when cursing is really valuable.”
The 20-minute video touched on a range of other topics and even sees President Obama get behind the wheel of the rare 1963 Corvette Seinfeld drove to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
“This is a childhood dream of mine,” Obama said as he slipped into the driver’s seat.
But we see, that even the President of the United States isn’t all that powerful, especially when it comes to the front gate at the White House.
“Hey Daryl, can you could open this up?” Obama asked as he and Seinfeld tried to get out for a little spin.
“I’m sorry sir, I can’t allow that,” answered the demure guard at the gate.
“That’s unbelievable,” the President said.
“You didn’t sell it,” said Seinfeld.
Brand new season! We open with President Obama. I ask the tough questions: underwear, nachos, and thermostats.
