A group of newborn lambs from southwest England are taking their fashion skills to the next level.
The staff at Avov Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park received an unusual package last Monday full of miniature knitted jumpers (English for sweater) meant for the newborn lambs. The anonymous package gave a more stylish option for the newborn lambs who normally wear plastic jackets to keep them warm and insulated on a cold spring morning.
“Monday morning I received an anonymous package which included eight fantastic hand-knitted, perfectly sized lamb jackets,” Doug Douglas, the park manager, told Metro. “They are wonderfully colored and certainly brighten up our animal handling barn.”
The jackets and sweaters help increase the survival rating of the baby lambs in the cold temperatures.
“The main priority for lambs in the first few days, when they are at their most vulnerable, is survival. The plastic jackets that we put on them I admit are not great to look at but ultimately increase their survival by up to 50 percent.”
The lambs are a new feature at the park and have taken well to bottle-feeding daily, shared Metro.
Thanks to a very kind stranger, the lambs will be nice and toasty (and trendy!) during the chilly spring mornings.
