Netflix Releases First Trailer For ‘Daredevil’ Follow-Up Series, ‘Jessica Jones’
Earlier this year, Netflix helped Marvel expand its cinematic universe with the release of the wildly popular Daredevil series. Now, the online streaming service is building off that success with its next installment, Marvel’s Jessica Jones.
On Wednesday, Netflix released a first look at the series, a short but grim trailer that looks like it will continue to set a darker tone for these Netflix exclusive shows.
Check out the trailer below:
The video doesn’t offer much in the way of plot – which revolves around a private detective in New York City’s Hell Kitchen who investigates strange, shall we say super phenomena that have been popping up all over the metropolitan area; the catch is, Jones (played by Krysten Ritter) is a former superheroine with a secret past. “It’s time the world knew her name,” the trailer declares.
The short preview did offer one clue that ties it directly back to the blockbuster Avengers movies.
In the background at the 30 second mark, is a tall skyscraper with a large “A” emblazoned on the façade. That is Avengers tower, most recently seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Jessica Jones will be a sister series to Daredevil, along with two more characters that have previously been greenlit for their own Netflix series: Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Once all four series have premiered, Netflix will debut The Defenders series, which will see the four heroes finally join forces.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones will premiere exclusively on Netflix on Nov. 20.
