Naked, Hooved Hillary Clinton Statue Sparks Confrontation in New York

The 2016 Presidential Election took another strange turn today, when a nude statue of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton led to angry confrontations in New York City.

The figure, depicting a nude Clinton with cloven hooves and a Wall Street Banker leaning on her breast, was erected sometime Tuesday morning near the Bowling Green train station in lower Manhattan.

According to the New York Daily News, the statue was put up around 6:00 a.m. and featured a sign crediting it to Mini Master and Boogie Night Production. Less than three hours later, an enraged woman who works at the nearby National Museum of The American Indian toppled it over. She then confronted the man who erected the statue, identified as Anthony Scioli, screaming, “This is obscene,” while fighting his attempts to put the statue back up.

The woman, only identified as Nancy, told the paper, “To put something up like this in front of my work place… I shouldn’t have to see this.”

As the struggle continued, with video showing Nancy sitting on the statue at one point, a crowd gathered with many taking sides in the dispute. One woman in a hajib helps Nancy hold the statue down, while telling Scioli “Don’t! Leave it alone!”

Others, like an IT worker who identified himself as Gene H., disagreed with attacks on the statue, arguing for freedom of speech. “This lady shows up and tips it over and starts assaulting anyone who tried to put it back up!”

The confrontation lasted until approximately 8:30 a.m. At that point, counterterrorism officers arrived and ordered the statue to be pulled down due to lack of permit.

The kerfuffle is reminiscent of the (seemingly unrelated) nude Trump statue controversy from August.
