A new video from the Connecticut nonprofit Sandy Hook Promise is giving people chills on the Internet.
The video PSA is promoting gun-violence prevention and aims for people to see the signs of gun violence before they take action. The video tells a short story about a boy named Evan and one of his classmates.
Evan and his unknown classmate are communicating through cute little messages left on a library desk. While the exchange of notes continues, Evan is hoping he will find his new mysterious friend before summer break. However, when he finds the library to be closed for the summer, he believes he missed his chance.
Luckily, he discovers the handwriting of his unknown classmate during a yearbook exchange, leaving Evan pretty happy. However, the exciting revelation takes a dark turn when a shooter breaks into the school. As the students panic, a message pops up on the screen explaining, “While you were watching Evan, another student was showing signs of planning a shooting.”
The video then replays itself, highlighting the signs that were missed during the first go-around. See the video in full below.
The video has gone viral on social media and many people are sharing their reactions to the shocking short story.

The video is part of the Sandy Hook Promise “Know the Signs” campaign.
“People who are at risk of hurting themselves or others often show signs and signals before an act of violence takes place,” explains the Sandy Hook Promise website. “When you don’t know what to look for, it can be easy to miss signs, or dismiss them as unimportant, sometimes with tragic consequences”
Several of the founders of Sandy Hook Promise had loved ones killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, which took place almost four years ago.
