Motorcycle-Riding Vets Give Stranded Bruce Springsteen a Lift
Bruce Springsteen was rescued by a group of former soldiers after his motorcycle broke down on Veterans Day.
The rocker went for a ride in New Jersey when bad luck struck, leaving him stranded at the side of the road near Allaire State Park and calling for help.
Members of the Freehold American Legion Post 54 Legion Riders were on a ride to Manasquan, NJ, before returning home to Freehold, NJ, when they found the 67-year-old.
Dan Barkalow, Bob Grigs, Donald Clayton and Ryan Baily had just represented Post 54 at the Veterans Day Ceremony in Holmdel for Veterans Day on Friday, and were surprised to find Freehold native Springsteen, known as The Boss, in need of their help.
Springsteen called a breakdown recovery service before hopping on the back of Baily’s bike, and the group rode to Mulligan’s restaurant in Farmingdale for a beer.
After his ride arrived at the restaurant to pick him up, Springsteen threw in $100 for the bill, posed for a few pictures and took their phone numbers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Legion Riders posted a photo from their meeting with the “Born to Run” hitmaker on their Facebook page, where they hinted they would be going on a motorcycle ride with Springsteen.
“Bruce did take their names and telephone numbers, so maybe they’ll be riding together some day!” the caption read.
