Mother of Six Completes Dream DIY Laundry Room for Just $400
Blogger Ronda Batchelor was simply looking for a more efficient way to get her laundry done, but her Do It Yourself space-saving techniques have caused quite a buzz online in a YouTube video that has been viewed over five million times.
Her laundry room renovation was necessitated by the fact that she has six children in the house, ages 10, 13 year old twins, 16, 18, and 20, in addition to her and husband Les. With just under $400 available to her, Batchelor came up with several Do It Yourself space- and time-saving techniques to maximize the roughly 7-by-7-foot laundry room available to her, according to the YouTube video posted by HouzzTV.
“Before there was no storage in there and there was no place to put things that were clean,” said Batchelor at the beginning of the video. But after her quick home fixes, that all changed.
Watch her amazing home transformation here:
The mother of six’s DIY innovations include stacking machines for extra space, installing large sorting bins for the individual family members to self-sort their own laundry, six portable baskets for clean clothes to be stored in and transported after washing, pull-out drying racks – made from dollar store materials – used to store and dry hand-wash only items, a finished faux marble countertop that can easily be removed for space, a hanger bar, a cabinet with a fold out ironing board. The allure of the room is topped off by an ornate sliding barn-door style entrance.
According you houzz, when discussing why she put so much work into the laundry room, Batchelor stated, “I like things to be pretty and organized, but it has to function.”
