“The American people are counting on you… to drive. Let’s go.”
Thanks to Morgan Freeman, you’ll never have to worry about being lost again. The Oscar-nominated actor is lending his voice to the popular GPS driving app, Waze.
Freeman joins other A-list stars, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kevin Hart, who have previously voiced directions on the app. According to Waze, Freeman’s voice is the most requested among its users.
The voiceover is a marketing tie-in for Freeman’s upcoming film, London Has Fallen (the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen). In the film, Freeman plays the vice president and carries the role over to the GPS app. He addresses all drivers as if they were the president.
Popular lines on the app tie-in include: “The time has arrived, President Wazer. The world awaits your commands,” and “You’ve arrived. It’s been my honor and duty to see you through this mission.”
Waze was first founded out of Israel in 2007 and has built up a solid reputation over the years for its real-time data on traffic, accidents, and roadwork conditions. In 2013, Google acquired the app for nearly $1 billion, even before the celebrity narration was in play.
Hopefully, Freeman’s smooth and sultry voice will make sitting in traffic that much easier.
London Has Fallen hits theaters nationwide on March 4.
