Model Born Without Legs Is Inspiring ‘Body Confidence’ Movement
An aspiring lingerie model is helping to alleviate the stigmas of disabilities and helping to inspire women to be more confident in the way they look.
Kanya Sesser, 23, is an L.A.-based model who earns over $1000 a day modelling lingerie, but the catch is that Sesser was born without legs.
Sesser has had a lifetime of adversity and her struggles have helped her build the strength to face her fears. As a baby, Sesser was abandoned on the steps of a Buddhist temple in Thailand. At the age of five, she was adopted and taken to live in Portland, Oregon.
At 15, Sesser began modeling sportswear before eventually shifting more into modeling underwear. Now, she’s reportedly modelling for brands such as Nike, Billabong, and Rip Curl Girl.
“It’s something fun and it shows my story – I’m different and that is sexy,” said Sesser, according to the Mail Online.
The model also loves extreme sports, opting to get around on a skateboard rather than a wheelchair. She also surfs and snowboards.
She says she loves the spotlight, saying the shoots helped her realize how strong she is and helped show another side of her personality.
“I love showing people what beauty can look like,” she said. “I don’t need legs to feel sexy.”
It just goes to show the only limitations we ever have are the ones we place on ourselves.
