Mick Jagger Welcomes Eighth Child
Veteran rocker Mick Jagger has become a father for the eighth time, at the age of 73.
The Rolling Stones frontman welcomed a baby boy with American ballerina Melanie Hamrick, 29, in New York on Thursday morning. His publicist Bernard Doherty reveals the couple is “delighted” about the birth, adding, “Mick was at the hospital for the arrival. Mother and baby are doing well and we request that the media respect their privacy at this time.”
The singer has been dating Hamrick on and off since mid-2014, just months after his fashion designer girlfriend L’Wren Scott committed suicide. She fell pregnant with the tot, her first child, during the Rolling Stones’ tour of South America earlier this year, and the couple confirmed the news in July.
A month later, the couple reached a legally-binding financial settlement to ensure the mother and baby’s needs will be well taken care of, regardless of the status of their relationship.
According to reports, Jagger agreed to pay Hamrick around $15,000 every month until the child turns 18. That means the dancer, who lives in New York, will bank an estimated total of $3.3 million.
Jagger also bought her a house.
The agreement echoes a deal Jagger previously hammered out with Brazilian Luciana Gimenez, the mother of his, Lucas. Jagger cheated on then-partner Jerry Hall with Gimenez, and it was the news of the boy’s birth in 1999 which eventually led to the end of the longterm couple’s romance.
Jagger has four children with Texas-born model Hall – Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel, as well as daughter Jade with first wife Bianca Jagger, and another girl, Karis, now 46, with actress Marsha Hunt.
