How did a “52-year-old, over-the-hill milkshake machine salesman” built a fast food empire like McDonald’s? “Persistence” was the key.
The first trailer of the highly anticipated film The Founder was released on Thursday and it looks like it will be a hit. The story is based on the life of McDonald’s founder Ray Croc (played by Birdman‘s Michael Keaton) and the origin story of his fast food empire.
According to First Showing, the synopsis of the film is below:
“Written by Robert Siegel (Big Fan), The Founder is a drama that tells the true story of how Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton), a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers’ speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire.”
The movie also stars Laura Dern, Nick Offerman, B.J Novak, Linda Cardellini and Patrick Wilson. The Blind Side director John Lee Hancock will direct.
The Founder hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
