Matt Damon came face-to-face with a real life Jason Bourne during an interview.
The Oscar-winning Hollywood actor and star of countless box office hits, is most famous for playing CIA assassin Jason Bourne in the spy film series.
After a break, Damon is set to return for his fourth outing in the film franchise, and an Australian news website tracked down a real-life Jason Bourne to grill the Hollywood star.
Damon appeared to love the gag and couldn’t stop smiling when he was told his interviewer’s name. While, understandably, the real Jason Bourne admitted he was quite nervous about interviewing the movie veteran.
“Hey Matt, my name is actually Jason Bourne. I’m not a journalist, I’ve been asked by news.com.au to come and interview today. This is the most surreal thing,” said a nervous Bourne.
“Fantastic,” Damon laughed. “For me too, you’re the first Jason Bourne I’ve ever met.”
Retail worker Bourne went on to explain the effect the film series has had on his life since it debuted in 2002. His moniker often gets him free hotel and airport upgrades. Damon wanted to know if people often had to do a double-take.
When Bourne confessed he often pretends to be on the phone to Damon asking for advice, the actor tried to share some actual pearls of wisdom.
“I don’t know what advice I could give you, other than I’m sorry if you get held up at customs because of my movies,” Damon smiled.
On the subject of the new movie, simply titled Jason Bourne, Damon explained that he often sneaks into the back of cinemas to gauge the public’s reaction to his work.
“In premieres it’s a very friendly audience, so you get a better idea if you sneak into a house where it’s playing to strangers,” he shared.
Jason Bourne hits screens on July 29.
