Margot Robbie Outed as Adorable Harry Potter Fan on Jimmy Kimmel
In the nearly two decades since the release of the first novel, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series and the Warner Bros films have gained millions of fans worldwide. Many of those fans have carried the Potter series with them into their adult lives, some into the upper echelon of Hollywood celebrity.
One such example was on full display on Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live where white-hot actress Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad, The Wolf of Wall Street) was revealed to have been a major Potter fanatic in her youth.
The subject of the Potter series came up as Robbie and Kimmel were discussing her latest film, The Legend of Tarzan, which was helmed by director David Yates, who directed four of the original Potter films and is behind the upcoming spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. From there, the host surprised Robbie with a photo of her reading Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire on her thirteenth birthday (1:30 mark in above video).
Robbie reacted with good humor, saying of the photo, “Literally, the most embarrassing photo of my whole life. I’m clearly really enjoying myself reading Harry Potter. I have braces, which I had for two years. I was really into slicking my hair back, God knows why. And I’m wearing glasses, which I didn’t actually need.”
Robbie went on to explain that she faked a need for glasses to be more like her literary hero.
“They’re not even cool ones, they’re like, ugly glasses. I went to the optometrist and was like, ‘No, I can’t see that. Oh, my eyes hurt,'” joked Robbie.
