An anonymous and private event at the Smithsonian turned into a very personal and decidedly public proposal recently.
In a video from the Washington Post, Frank Warren, in association with the museum, describes PostSecret, a collaboration started over a decade ago with the goal of supporters to send Warren postcards detailing their darkest secrets. To date he’s received over 1,000,000 entries.
Earlier this year, government contractor Stephan Evans, 29, decided he wanted to use the PostSecret display to propose to his girlfriend Ashley Ortiz. He contacted the museum and they immediately warmed to the idea. In fact that liked it so much that Warren and the team decided to incorporate it into the annual PostSecret event at the museum.

Warren read several of the postcards before reading Evans’s profession of love, then allowed Stephan himself to properly propose. All the while, a camera trained on Ortiz traced her face as she realized what was happening.
“There’s never been a better ending to a PostSecret event in 12 years,” Warren said after the event.
For Evans and Ortiz, it’s no secret the love they have for one another.
