Make This Patriotic Roll Cake for 4th of July

What’s a July 4th barbecue without a red, white, and blue cake? Show off your baking skills this Independence Day by making this super easy American Flag Roll Cake.
Not only is this cake great to look at, but it is also delicious! The cake is filled with whipped cream and fresh strawberries for the perfect summer treat.
To make this cake you’ll need:
- Egg whites
- Cake flour
- Red and blue food dye
- Egg yolks
- Sugar
- Lemon juice
- Water
- Cake flour
- Oil
- Cream of Tartar
First, combine the egg whites and cake flour to create the base for the cake. Add the red and blue food dye to make the right colors. Then, on a sheet pan tape out the design of the flag and pipe the correct design using the base mix.
Next, combine the egg yolks and sugar until smooth. Then add the lemon juice, water, cake flour, and oil together and mix it all in a bowl. In another bowl, combine egg whites, cream of tartar, and sugar. With an electric mixer, whip all of the ingredients until the peaks are stiff. Then take the stiff peaks and fold them into the cake mix. Pour the mix over the sheet pan and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 – 20 minutes.
Once the cake is done and semi-cool, pre-roll it to prevent cracking. Then fill it with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Roll up the cake and enjoy!
