More ‘Mad Max’ Is on the Way Director Clarifies
Turns out the reporter who claimed that Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller said he was done with the franchise, got it all wrong.
According to Miller, he is on board to work on at least two more Mad Max pictures, good news for fans of the post-apocalyptic action film. Mad Max: Fury Road was most recently nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award, as well as receiving nine more Oscar nominations.
Miller claims that in his interview with the reporter, he meant another Mad Max was not next up on his plate. The interview took place on the red carpet at the National Board of Review and with of all the noise and chaos that happens at press events during awards season, the apparent details were lost.
On Thursday, Miller told the New York Post‘s Page 6, “She completely got the wrong fragments of information that were just not true. I said no, another Mad Max movie will not be next, and she took that to mean I never wanted to make another Mad Max. It won’t necessarily be next, but I have two more stories.”
It took years for the long-awaited Fury Road sequel to get made, going into pre-production all the way back in 1997. The film hit theaters in May 2015 to widespread acclaim.
