A Lowe’s in Texas just hired two brand new employees and one of them just happens to have four legs.
Thanks to the Lowe’s in Abilene, Texas, Clay Luthy gets to bring his service dog, Charlotte, to work with him everyday. Luthy, a former C-130 loadmaster in the U.S. Air Force, blew out both knees causing him to have five different surgeries. The Air Force veteran cannot bend his left knee and sometimes falls down. Charlotte helps signal Luthy if there is an issue, helping him to stay on his two feet.
“I got [Charlotte] as a puppy, and she was never supposed to be a service dog,” Luthy told San Angelo television station KIDY. “I found out a couple years ago she was alerting me, and I didn’t even know it.”
Customer Judy Rose shared a picture of the duo in action, showing off their red Lowe’s vest. The photo quickly went viral with many commenters commending Lowe’s for their heartwarming action for hiring them both.
“Great job Lowes!” one commenter wrote.
“Awesome act of kindness,” wrote another.
According to human resource manager, Jay Fellers, the duo “were the best pair for the job.”
“We went through the interview process, and Clay and his own merit won the job,” Fellers said to Fox News. “And we knew he was gonna make a great employee — we just got the benefit of getting Charlotte right along with him.”
“She’s a great hit with the folks who come around our store, especially the kids,” Fellers told The Dodo. “Our customers really love and appreciate her. It’s been a good time having them as part of our staff.”
