The war of words between Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Gold Star parent Khizr Khan shows no signs of slowing down.

The barbs have continued from both sides since. Khan spoke out again yesterday in response to a Trump speech where the nominee said that if elected he’d institute a ideological test as part of U.S. immigration procedures to “screen out any who have hostile attitudes toward our country or its principles.”

Khan, who became a citizen after coming to the U.S. in 1980, openly challenged Trump, saying in an email to the Huffington Post:

“This is my country too. We must make it safe ― as Muslim Americans it is our obligation to keep our country safe. We reject all violence. We support better immigration policies. We stand as a testament to assimilation and being part of patriotic America as anyone else.”

From there, Khan challenged Trump to take the U.S. citizenship test. “I challenge Trump to take the naturalization test with me any day. His is demagoguery and pandering for vote. A divider like Trump can never be the steward of this country.”
