Teen Spent Hours Walking to Work Every Day, Police Raise Money to Get Him a Car

In Benicia, California, teenager Jourdan Duncan spent hours walking to and from work every single day. Now, he’s got his own car and it’s all thanks to the support of the Benicia Police Department.

Officer Kirk Keffer met 18-year-old Duncan — who works as a packaging line worker — one late night as he was walking home. Keffer offered him a ride home. After Duncan shared his story, the department chipped in to buy him a bike.

“Every chance we get to help somebody out, we try to do it,” Keffer told InsideEdition.

And they didn’t stop there. Keffer and the department set up a GoFundMe and raised over $42,000 for Duncan to fix his car and pay for college.

“I wanted to make sure that he understood that a good work ethic and dedication like that is going to be noticed, it’s going to be rewarded,” said Keffer.

Duncan used the money to get himself a new car, with leftovers going towards books for school and his family.

“He (Keffer) helped make my life a lot easier,” said Duncan.

We commend Officer Keffer for his kindness, and unlike that sergeant from Ohio, he didn’t have to get Tasered!
