Missing Dog Comes Home After Spending Four Years Away
When Joel McDonald spotted a dog on his doorstep, he never expected to see a familiar face.
About four years ago, McDonald’s dog, Molly, disappeared and could not be found. McDonald and his wife, Carolyn, searched for a very long time, but finally accepted that Molly was gone.
However, they got a shock when a dog that looked strikingly like Molly appeared out of nowhere on their doorstep last week.
“I didn’t know for sure but I thought it. And she just came and put her head in my lap and said ‘oh my,’” McDonald told Charlotte television station WBTV.
The dog was very comfortable in her surroundings and friendly around McDonald, however, he was still hesitate about the dog being Molly. The North Carolina native then took the dog to the Animal Care Center in Salisbury to see if the dog had a microchip.
Luckily, at the animal hospital they were able to find a microchip in their first scan.
“We didn’t ask him his name or anything I looked down and I said ‘We got a number!’ I looked it up in the computer and I said what’s your name? And I said that’s your Molly,” Terry, an animal care center employee, told WBTV.
After hearing the news, there was not a dry eye in the animal shelter.
“I wasn’t expecting that. I’d already said she was gone,” Joel McDonald said to WBTV.
While the McDonald’s are still wondering what happened to Molly during those four years away, it is not a question they are actively seeking an answer for.
“I’ve asked her and asked her, but she won’t tell me where she’s been,” McDonald told Tennessee television station WREG.
Right now they are just happy that their dog has returned home.
“She’s back now!” Carolyn McDonald said to WBTV.
