Move over Larry the Lobster, there’s another top dog lobster in the sea.
On Saturday afternoon, an enormous lobster – large enough to be dubbed a “sea monster” – was caught in Bermuda following the aftermath of Hurricane Nicole.
The 14-pound lobster was hooked on accident by a fisherman fishing for snapper aboard the Sanctuary Marine Bermuda charter boat.
“Hurricane Nicole blew in some sea monsters,” the company wrote on their Facebook page, showing off the nice catch.
For reference, some lobsters can grow up to three feet in length and the average lobster weighs between three to four pounds. And although huge, this lobster does not even come close to the world’s biggest lobster ever caught and recorded at 44 pounds in Nova Scotia, Canada, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
After some photos were taken, the giant crustacean was released back into the ocean and its existence went viral.
We’re glad the big fella was returned to the water, but we can’t help but wonder how delicious he might have tasted steamed and covered in butter.
