When a German photographer stumbled upon a homeless dog digging through her garbage, she immediately saw an opportunity to do something great.
Julie Marie Werner welcomed the homeless dog into her home and transformed him into a “brave little lion,” literally, after Werner was reminded of The Lion King. The dog, now named Tschikko Leopold von Werner, is part of Werner’s photo project called, Grossstadtlowe. According to Bored Panda, Grossstadtlowe means “Big City Lion.”
In the photo series, Werner photographed the homeless dog looking better than ever. After finding the dog in Spain, Werner brought him back home to Germany to give him a better life. She believes the dog was thrown from a car and left to fend on his own.
The photo series Werner created shows both the physical and emotional journey that Tschikko Leopold von Werner has taken. Check out this little lion’s incredible adventure from throw-away to best friend below!
