We’ve all seen New Yorker cartoons that poke fun at life in the sophisticated, wealthy classes. These cartoons can be hard to relate to especially when you know you’ll never have this problem:
But now comes something fresh – something you don’t need a 401k to relate to.
Emmet Truxes grew up idolizing these cartoons. As a successful cartoonist himself, he decided to make something a little more down-to-Earth. Using a style that is very similar to the New Yorker, Truxes makes cartoons that depicts life in Brooklyn as down-trodden millennials try to make a life for themselves. He uses inspiration for his cartoons from real-life scenarios, you know, like growing up middle-class, but now you’re living paycheck to paycheck.
Truxes shares his work through his Instagram account BrooklynCartoons, where he has nearly 25,000 followers already.
Truxes told A Plus, “The ideas for the scenes and captions come from everyday observations — keeping my eyes and ears open — and a lot come from the wide range of conversations that happen when you hang out with friends over drinks.”
Something tells me he’ll never run out of material.
Check out some his work below.
