Helen Mirren Urges Beer Fans Not to Drink and Drive in Super Bowl Ad
Dame Helen Mirren will urge Super Bowl revelers not to drink and drive in ads scheduled to air during the big game on Sunday.
The actress will appear in Budweiser’s “Simply Put” campaign commercials, which call on beer fans to find alternative ways of getting home from parties, and she won’t be holding back from letting drink drivers know what she thinks of them.

“Hello, I’m Helen Mirren, a notoriously frank and uncensored British lady,” she says in the ads, which debuted online Tuesday. If you drive drunk, you… are a shortsighted, utterly useless, oxygen-wasting human form of pollution, a Darwin award-deserving selfish coward.”
But she admires folks who make plans to get home safely after the Super Bowl, adding, “Now, the chances are you’re a fun, solid, respectable human being.”
She concludes the ad by stating, “Don’t be a pillock (idiot). Your friends and family thank you.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Budweiser’s parent company Anheuser-Busch insists Oscar winner Mirren was the perfect choice for the ad, stating, “To spark conversations about this vital issue on one of the biggest drinking occasions of the year, the brand has called upon actress Helen Mirren, with her mix of gravitas and charm, to demand that beer drinkers make a plan to get home safely.”
Celebrity ads which will debut on TV during the Super Bowl will also feature Ryan Reynolds, Christopher Walken, Alec Baldwin, Scott Baio, rapper Drake, Amy Schumer, and Seth Rogen.
