HBO Confirms ‘Deadwood’ Movie is Happening
The rumors are true! The highly awaited Deadwood movie has started development at HBO.
The confirmation came from HBO’s programming networking president Michael Lombardo. Lombardo confirmed that he personally gave David Milch, the series creator, the green light to bring the story back to life.
“David has our commitment that we are going to do it,” Lombardo told TV Line. “He pitched what he thought generally the storyline would be — and knowing David, that could change. But it’s going to happen.”
Actor Garret Dillahunt, who played Francis Woloctt on the show, first leaked the news on Twitter back in August.
So uh….I'm hearing credible rumors about a #Deadwood movie. #Everybodypray

Deadwood first premiered in 2004. The series starred Timothy Olyphant and Ian McShane for three seasons when it was suddenly cut short without a fulfilling ending.
“Milch has something left unsaid. I’ve known him for a while and it feels like it’s something he’s not done talking about,” Lombardo shared with TV Line.
Lombardo is confident that the original cast will all be on board despite being highly in demand for other projects.
“The cast is unbelievably [tight],” he told TV Line. “Some casts and creators form a bond that becomes relevant for the rest of their lives. This was a defining moment for a lot of them.”
