We love stories of rescued animals, whether it is a dog or cat — even an owl or goat!
In this scenario, a dog spent 15 years neglected and unloved — chained to a dog house, in fact — but thanks to an organization of rescuers, he is now free.
The dog is named Bear. He is finally experiencing happiness and he is up for adoption!
The nonprofit Guardians of Rescue (GOR) received a call regarding a dog in need of a dog house. Upon arrival, they discovered the dog (Bear) had spent his entire life hooked to a heavy chain in the backyard of his owner’s house in Suffolk County, New York.
“We knew then and there that we had to do something to make a difference in that dog’s life, and so we did,” founder and president of the organization Robert Misseri said in a statement according to The Dodo.
Fortunately, the owner surrendered Bear and the dreadful chain was cut!
Afterwards, he was instantly taken on an emergency vacation to the spa, then the beach, and lastly Starbucks for the famous “Puppuccino.”
It doesn’t end here too, as rescuers plan on taking Bear to a dog park, on a car ride and more usual activities that every dog should experience. It’s an incredible gift for Bear.
“One phone call from someone in the community set the wheels in motion that have changed Bear’s life,” Misseri said. “That’s a true success story and why we exist.”
It was reported by the ASPCA that although around 1.4 million shelter dogs are adopted each year, about 1.2 million dogs who can’t find homes are euthanized, so if you’re interested in adopting Bear, call GOR at 631-891-8430 and give him the life he deserves.
