The pill bull known as “Grumpy Dog” has finally found a home.
Rescue dog Sheldon — who is nearly 3 years old — arrived at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) in Phoenix, Arizona in late 2016. Then, volunteer Heather Haltmeyer did a photoshoot with Sheldon back in January, dressed in a green bowtie.
“We may be biased, but we think Sheldon should be a doggy celebrity with all those expressions!” wrote MCACC on Facebook. “Think of all the fun you could have taking pictures of him if you adopt! Sheldon is a great dog with a great energy level. He’s not crazy hyper, but he’s no slow-poke either. Sheldon is equally happy to sniff around on his own or come over for some pets and attention. Oh and get this — he already knows “Sit” and “Paw” too! WOW- looks, smarts AND personality!”
And the photoshoot worked — Grumpy Dog was born and quickly adopted.
“Once I got him in the yard, I realized how adorable he looked in pictures, with his downturned mouth and ‘grumpy dog’ expression,” Haltmeyer told InsideEdition.com. “We posted him on Facebook and he did very well. The next day, his new mom came in to adopt him!”
It took a few months since his rescue, but recently he was finally adopted by Emily Chmiel after she saw his photos online.
“I had been looking for a dog for a while and his picture just kind of clicked with me,” Chmiel said.
Sheldon, renamed Cass now, today lives with her and her five cats in a loving home.
“With so many animals needing homes, I feel confident people can find what they are looking for in a new family member by adopting,” Haltmeyer told Your Daily Dish. “Visit numerous shelters, check out websites, take your time and find the best fit — adopting is a commitment to care for that animal for their lifetime and is not to be taken lightly, but is also one of the most rewarding things you can do.”
