Good Guy LeBron James Offers Free Tuition To More Than 1,000 Kids
Basketball superstar LeBron James, in conjunction with the LeBron James Family Foundation charity, announced they will provide free tuition for any child currently in his “I Promise” educational program based in Akron, Ohio.
The charity foundation currently offers assistance to children in Grades 3-8. Now, those children will have the opportunity to receive a paid-for education to the University of Akron if they meet all the requirements.
Every single kid who finish my program will go to college for FREE! #Tryingtomakeadifference @LJFamFoundation

One year’s tuition at Akron is roughly $9,500. For children growing up in poor neighborhoods in Ohio, this new initiative will provide the only chance these students might have to go on to higher education. James echoed this sentiment in an interview with ESPN.
“I think it’s probably one of the best things I’ve ever been a part of, this is very special to me. As a kid growing up in the inner city and as an African American kid, you don’t really think past high school because it’s not possible or your family can’t support you. For us to be able to do something like this … it means so much.”
