Sometimes it takes more than just flowers and careful planning to bring a garden to life. If you feel like your garden is “missing something” or could use a bit of character, consider adding some homemade, DIY garden pieces. These projects are great for creating focal points and garnering compliments from friends.
Some of them are so cute and seemingly little, but they add so much. Start with these easy projects and begin creating the garden of your dreams today.
A Wooden Walkway
How charming is this little walkway? It’s so easy to do you’ll be kicking yourself you didn’t think of it sooner. Just dig out the space where you want the walkway, take some thick, wooden planks and plop them down. Fill in the spaces with soil to hold them in place. Check out the tutorial here.
Outdoor Chandelier
You know how we’re always trying to bring the outside in? Well, it’s time to bring the indoors out! Create a romantic setting outdoors with this whimsical DIY chandelier. Follow this tutorial.
Log Planter
We’ve seen some pretty creative planters in our days. You can pretty much use anything to hold flowers. However, this hollowed out log earns major points for its storybook-like qualities, and delightful aesthetic. Check it out here.
Backyard Scrabble
OK, this one’s a little out there, but stay with us. Even if scrabble isn’t your favorite game, it’s great if you have kids and it will entertain guests. This project is a little more advanced and may take a while if you decide to use concrete, but you will definitely have the most interesting backyard in the neighborhood, nay, the city. Follow the steps here.
Fire Pit
While this one will definitely require some muscle and planning, adding a backyard fire pit isn’t as hard as it seems. With some concrete bricks, a leveling tool, and some gravel, you can have a beautiful backyard oasis in very little time. Follow the tutorial here.
Gnome Houses
Little gnome or elf houses on trees are super cute and easy to create, and you can make them as detailed or simple as you want. All you need is a tree to use as a good backdrop and some craft supplies. You can even have your kid draw out the design of the home to make it a fun family activity. Learn how here.
