These Fluorescent Flowers Will Light Up Your Life

We’ve written a lot about how to beautify your garden and make the most out of your backyard space, but now we have a totally radical idea for turning common, ordinary flowers into psychedelic party plants.

Well, actually the idea is from the American Chemical Society’s YouTube series Reactions, but that doesn’t make it any less cool. The idea is actually super simple and fun to do. All you need is a highlighter, white flowers, a vase with water, paper towels, and some pliers.

Use the pliers to take the ink reservoir out of the pen and squeeze the ink over the vase with water so it drips in. According to the video, you’ll need about 10 drops of ink for every ounce of water. Then, take your white flowers with the stems cut off and place them in the vase.

After about a day, the flowers will become fluorescent. Use a black light to view the flowers in their full glory, or just bring them to your next rave, your choice!
